“Inspired by real moments, places and lessons between the author and her own grandmother, this sweet book follows seven year old Gracie and her Mémère as she learns that with a little bit of creativity, gratitude and kindness, you can see every day as a gift! All you have to do is choose to untie the ribbons!
Throughout these four little mini stories your child will learn along with Gracie how to turn a mistake into something beautiful, how to be present and grateful for each day, how to make the most of a disappointing situation, and how a little bit of kindness can go a long way! They have the power to make the world a better place by choosing to see each day as an opportunity to spread light and goodness.
With hand painted original watercolor illustrations and timeless life lessons sprinkled throughout every page, this heartwarming book will inspire children and their families for years to come!”
Long Story shoRt-ish!
July 2019 was the first time I shared my idea to write a children’s book all about memories and life lessons my Mémère taught me growing up. One of her favorite quotes that she has always said to me is, “Everyday is a gift, choose to untie the ribbons.” At 96 years old, she has been painting for over 60 years and was the first person to teach me watercolor at her kitchen table so many years ago. My love of art and my love for God have been deeply influenced by my sweet Mémère.
When I decided to write and illustrate Untie the Ribbons, I knew I wanted to paint it in watercolor. What started as a passion project has turned into a rekindled love of art and a new hope to see her beautiful lessons of gratitude, kindness, and love spread around the world! I guess it’s become one small way for me to pay it forward, because I am forever changed by her love.

About the artist
Nina Grace Pundt is a new author and illustrator from Wrentham, Massachusetts. Nina has painted and written little short stories since she was a child and has always had a love for the magic of storytelling. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education where she developed a love of teaching children to read.
Once she became a mama herself, she realized that books are so much more than just a way to learn, or even beautiful art. They are a moment of love and connection between the people who read them, and they hold the power to spread light in the hearts and minds of the little ears who listen. She hopes the lessons in her stories will keep spreading like wildflowers, making the world more beautiful as they grow.
Currently, Nina lives just south of Boston, MA. If it's a warm day, you can find her on the beach down the Cape, chasing her 3 cuties around with her husband Mike. If it's cold or rainy, she's probably cuddling with her family under a blanket with a warm cup of tea. Or maybe… painting at her own kitchen table with her sweet kids, thanking God for the gift of today.
